Ashampoo Privacy Protector is a Windows program created to help you prevent unauthorized users from accessing your private information. You can use this utility to encrypt/decrypt files and folders, permanently delete your Internet browsing data, and erase sensitive documents from your PC.
The tool is packed with a user-friendly interface and each built-in utility features easy-to-configure settings. So, minimum PC experience is required in order to use Ashampoo Privacy Protector on your computer.
In my testing, the program worked OK. It took a small amount of time to delete a selected file, erased my web browsing data, and encrypted private documents without displaying any errors or slowing down my PC.
A disadvantage is that Ashampoo Privacy Protector doesn't provide you with a solution if you forget the access password you selected when encrypting a document. The file in question is permanently lost if you don't remember the password.
Another thing that's currently unavailable is the ability to password-protect the program. To be more exact, you cannot define a master password for accessing the data being stored in Ashampoo Privacy Protector. For example, one user can open the utility, see which files are being protected by the program, and then use the built-in Delete Data tool to permanently erase the private documents.
In conclusion, it's up to you to decide, based on the type of tasks you want to complete with this program, if it's worth buying Ashampoo Privacy Protector for your PC or not. I'd say it's worth giving it a try if you only need it for permanently clearing web browsing data and private documents.
